School Boards: Playing A Key Role in Student Success and Achievement

Across Canada, school trustees and commissioners (as they are referred to in Québec) play a key role in student success, accountability and achievement for their respective boards and districts.

School trustees and commissioners create the conditions for student achievement by setting policy and providing strong leadership, in order to meet the needs of their student populations and local communities.  In doing so, they uphold the values and culture of the communities that they represent, with a view towards school improvement, accountability and achievement for all students.

Look for upcoming blog posts, as well as reviews of current research and articles in the area of effective school board governance.

In addition, our provincial school board associations have governance resources posted on their websites, customized with information specific to each province.
